Georgia Tech faculty are invited to apply to be sponsors for the summer 2026 cohort of the Georgia Immersive Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT) Program. The application deadline is February 6, 2026.
Now in its 35th year, the GIFT Program places K-12 STEM teachers in 5–6-week mentored experiences in university labs, industry settings, and informal science institutions. Educators are immersed in workforce-integrated learning, collaborating with sponsors and mentors to translate new knowledge, tools, and insights into classroom-ready inquiry for their students.
“GIFT offers educators a rare opportunity to engage with STEM research in real-world settings, and faculty sponsors play a pivotal role in shaping those experiences,” said Program Director Heidi Turcotte. “By partnering with teachers, faculty help bring authentic STEM practices into K–12 classrooms while strengthening connections between Georgia Tech and the broader educational community. It’s a mutually beneficial model that advances both research engagement and meaningful instructional practice.”
Housed in the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), the GIFT Program has grown significantly since its founding in 1991, and in recent years, has routinely placed 60-80 teachers each summer in immersive research experiences supported by local partners throughout the state.
