Georgia Tech faculty are invited to apply to be sponsors for the summer 2025 cohort of the Georgia Intern-Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT) Program. The application deadline is February 21, 2025.
Each summer, the GIFT program places 50–70 K-12 teachers in 4–7-week internships, providing them with a deeper understanding of how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are applied in real-world inquiry, problem-solving, and reasoning. Teachers collaborate with sponsors and mentors to integrate new perspectives, knowledge, and insights from the internship into their classrooms.
“This program allows faculty to extend their research into the classroom, fostering future STEM leaders. By participating as sponsors, faculty enhance their research impact through community engagement and educational outreach,” said Program Director Heidi Turcotte. “It is a mutually beneficial experience that integrates academic research with practical teaching applications.”
Housed in the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), the GIFT Program has facilitated more than 2200 statewide internships in university research labs, industry and informal science institutions since 1991.
