Georgia Tech faculty are encouraged to submit proposals to the 2024 STEAM Leadership Conference which will focus on fostering innovative ideas connecting education and industry.

The eighth-annual conference will be held on campus March 8-9, 2024, with the theme, “The Future and Beyond: Workforce Development, Critical Thinking, Innovation.” Submissions are due January 5, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Priority will be given to proposals that clearly and concisely demonstrate the conference theme, convey novel ideas, and demonstrate authentic integration of STEAM components (science, technology, engineering, art and math) with a specific emphasis on the integration of the arts.

Conference organizer Heidi Turcotte stressed that the conference is an opportunity for faculty to showcase the innovative methods, impactful programs, and successful collaborations that have been instrumental in fostering interest and enthusiasm for STEM/STEAM in our community. “Leading Campus and Community Coordination, I spend most of my time building bridges and interfacing with the different departments on campus to help support broader impact and outreach initiatives for K-12 programs in the community,” said Turcotte, Program Director for Campus and Community Coordination with the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC)“The STEAM Leadership Conference has an array of K-12 audiences. I am looking to broaden the scope to include more opportunities for those involved in different grant projects to showcase their innovations and knowledge.”

Turcotte added that faculty members who present at the conference will contribute to the goals of the university’s strategic plan by amplifying impact, championing innovation, expanding access, and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of STEM/STEAM education.

Other STEAM leaders from the community, including school superintendents, curriculum coordinators, principals, academic coaches, content specialists, artists, after-school coordinators, informal educators, researchers, curriculum developers, policymakers, and industry professionals can also submit proposals to the conference.
