Dr. Rehmat, a Research Scientist II at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), has a diverse and interdisciplinary background. Her work encompasses education, research, and teaching experiences in various fields. She holds a Ph.D. in STEM Education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and a B.S. in Computer Science from St. John’s University, New York. Prior to joining CEISMC, Dr. Rehmat held several esteemed postdoctoral research positions. She served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Engineering, Indiana University’s Department of Learning Sciences and Design, and Purdue University’s INSPIRE Research Institute for Pre-College Engineering. During this tenure, Dr. Rehmat garnered substantial recognition for her contributions, including the 2021 Outstanding Research Paper Award in the Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education.
Dr. Rehmat possesses extensive teaching experience in both pre-college and higher education settings. She has dedicated seven years to instructing students from grades 1 through 8 and six years to higher education environments. An active member of the academic community, Dr. Rehmat serves as a delegate for the American Society for Engineering Education’s Educational Research and Methods (ERM) Division. Furthermore, she holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the Pre-College Engineering Education (PCEE) Division.

Dr. Rehmat's research interests focus on the intersection of engineering, computer science education, and artificial intelligence. She is particularly interested in developing, implementing, and evaluating authentic and integrated learning experiences in both formal and informal educational settings. Her work also involves translating contemporary technical research, including advancements in artificial intelligence, into K-16 educational contexts and integrating emerging technologies to enhance essential skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking. Additionally, Dr. Rehmat is dedicated to advancing teacher professional development, aiming to support educators in effectively integrating these innovative educational approaches, including AI tools, into their teaching practices.
