GTRI, Georgia Tech Launch Computer Science Pilot Program for Rural Georgia High Schools

Georgia Tech’s Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) and STEM@GTRI have launched a pilot program for rural Georgia school districts that provides high schoolers with access to interactive modules in the areas of coding, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, sensors and data visualization. The participating school districts for the 2022-2023 academic year include Cartersville City, Chattooga County, Effingham County, Fayette County, Gordon County, Haralson County, Liberty County, and Walker County.

Middle and high school students participating in the REMEZCLA project visited the Georgia Tech campus

Students from Berkmar Middle School in Gwinnett County and Lakeside High School in DeKalb County have been learning code and music composition by using EarSketch - a web-based digital audio workstation developed at Tech – through the REMEZCLA curriculum, which is specially designed to engage Latinx students.

Under the umbrella of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Diversity and Inclusion Fellows Program allows students, faculty, and staff to work individually and collectively on their action, research, or teaching objectives while improving inclusivity on campus. There were 35 fellows selected for the 2021-22 cohort.

CEISMC offers K-12 summer enrichment activities in STEM and STEAM

The Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) at Georgia Tech’s Atlanta and Savannah campuses will be offering STEM/STEAM student programming this summer for elementary, middle, and high school students. Registration is now open for these programs that will begin June 6 and end on July 22.
