This event has been a major component of the GoSTEM program since the beginning, becoming a staple of the Atlanta Science Festival in 2014. The last in-person event occurred in spring 2019 before returning last fall as a smaller, student-focused program for schools that had participated in other GoSTEM activities or were new to the program.

“The success of last year’s event prompted us to move forward again with our partner schools, most of which are under-resourced, making it a uniquely valuable touchpoint for these students and educators,” said Michael Turner, GoSTEM Co-Program Manager. “That momentum led us to double the number of participants this year, further advancing Georgia Tech’s strategic vision to expand access, strengthen community partnerships, and inspire the next generation of innovators.”

Participants from Gwinnett, DeKalb, and Hall counties will enjoy a fun-filled day of STEM demonstrations and interactive sessions led by student clubs and faculty-led outreach groups from local universities, including Georgia Tech. Undergraduate and graduate students will serve as group leaders, sharing their perspectives and guiding participants as they rotate through the various sessions.

Representatives from Georgia Tech’s Office of Undergraduate Admission and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will also present. This year’s event features two local community organizations: Buttercup STEAM and Produce’d

These partnerships help us broaden the conversation around what meaningful science and technology education can look like.”
