JOB PURPOSE:
The Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) is seeking a talented undergraduate to assist the Communications Team with multimedia projects that raise the visibility of CEISMC STEM and STEAM educational programs and outreach activities for K-12 students and teachers. This is an opportunity for the student to grow a professional portfolio with hands-on web development and multimedia communications experience, including writing digital content.
CEISMC is seeking to hire a detail-oriented student with strong interpersonal skills who will show initiative, a strong work ethic, organization, and positivity as well as the ability to work professionally and independently with appropriate direction.
The student assistant will be responsible for helping to maintain CEISMC’s websites, including the upgrade to the newest version of Drupal, and completing some graphic design, photography, and videography work, including writing digital content, as assigned by the Web Developer and Communications Specialist.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Creating basic webpages and customizing the layout and creating webforms.
- Attending selected CEISMC events to assist in photography and/or videography.
- Editing and archiving images and editing video.
- Assisting in managing CEISMC social media channels, including creating posts and designing graphics to accompany them.
- Developing short form and long form digital content such as web stories and magazine articles.
- Creating graphics for marketing materials and web.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
WAGE:
$12.00 per hour
HOURS:
15-20 hours per week starting spring semester 2024 with possible continuation through summer and fall.
EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
CEISMC is seeking a Georgia Tech undergraduate in good academic standing, preferably majoring in Computer Science, Literature, Media & Communications, Computational Media, or Digital Media with experience in creating and maintaining websites using Drupal CMS, and proficiency in graphic design, photography, videography, and digital storytelling.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
Specialized skills required for this job:
- Basic graphic design, photography, and videography skills.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva is a plus.
- Creating digital content for multimedia channels.
- Experience using Final Cut Pro or other video editing software.
