Atlanta, Georgia | January 6, 2025

The Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) is looking for volunteers from the Georgia Tech community to assist with the FIRST LEGO League Challenge State Championship. The event will be held on February 8, 2025, in the Exhibition Hall on the Atlanta campus.

Students participate in 2024 FIRST LEGO League Challenge State Championship at Tech.FIRST LEGO League is a global robotics program that introduces STEM to youth ages 4 to 16 through fun, hands-on learning. Teams design, build, and program LEGO robots to compete in an alliance-based game on a themed field. This year's FIRST LEGO League Challenge is “Submerged,” in which teams use their STEM and collaborative skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans.

For over a decade, Georgia Tech has been an affiliate partner for FIRST LEGO League Challenge in Georgia with CEISMC facilitating the program for the state as the program delivery partner. CEISMC also hosts the state championship.

Volunteers are needed for various roles, such as judges, referees, scorekeepers, and floaters. No prior experience with FIRST LEGO League or robotics is required, as training will be provided. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt, breakfast, lunch, and snacks, as well as the opportunity to interact with enthusiastic and creative young students.

"FIRST LEGO League is more than just robots. It's about teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and fun. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and support the next generation of STEM leaders," said CEISMC Educational Outreach Manager Bob Kraushaar, who has been coordinating the initiative since 2018.
