Sylvester Lee Lewis joined Georgia Tech’s Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) on January 21, 2020. Sylvester attended Grambling State University of Grambling, Louisiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Wildlife Biology and Mass Communications. Mr. Lewis has worked as a Field Representative for the Federal ADD-Health Study at the Research Triangle Institute in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and as the Grambling State University Acting Career Counselor and Service-Learning Specialist; establishing the Office of Service-Learning at Grambling State University through the HBCU Consortium made up of three Louisiana HBCUs: Grambling State, Dillard, and Xavier Universities.
Prior to joining CEISMC, Sylvester would work in retail as an Area Coordinator for Driveline Retail Merchandising while beginning his journey into the classroom as an Educator for the Lincoln Parish School Board of Ruston, Louisiana. Mr. Lewis would accept teaching positions with the Morehouse Parish School Board and Richland Parish School Board where he would participate in the TEACH Richland TNTP/MAT program through the University of New Orleans. While at CEISMC, Sylvester has worked with Bio-Inspired Design for Engineering Education (BIRDEE) project, FIRST Lego League (FLL) Challenge State Championship Tournament, RETTEL, STEM-ID, CAPACiTY | Student Centered Computing (SCC), Your Voice is Power (Judge), and K-12 Inventure Prize | Georgia Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing (Georgia A.I.M) where he serves as point-of-contact for two partnerships (FLEX & GIPA).
Sylvester Lee Lewis, an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and member of the Board of Directors to the Diaspora Global Foundation of Fayetteville, Georgia, was ordinated as an Elder in the International Church of God in Christ, Incorporated (COGIC) in 2021. In addition, he hold certifications in both Christian Leadership and Christian Education, and an Episcopal Appointment as the Jurisdictional Commissioner of Public Relations to the Historical Louisiana First Jurisdiction COGIC. Elder Lewis combines his STEAM Education and Spiritual Beliefs as the International Coordinator of STEM/STEAM Education and Math Olympiad Assistant Coordinator for the COGIC Scholastic Motivation Ministries. More importantly, Sylvester is a devoted husband and surrogate father of three and godfather of fifteen.
