Doug Edwards

Research Associate II


Doug Edwards is a former electrical engineer with the US Air Force and former mathematics teacher. He also served as an Associate Professor of Information Technology at Clayton State University and was Math/Science Magnet Director at Westlake High School in Fulton County where he worked with Georgia Tech graduate fellows to begin the first high school Engineers Without Borders chapter that traveled to do a solar cooker project in Tanzania. Most recently he served Fulton County as a Data Support Specialist to provide professional development to high school teachers in mathematics content and pedagogy and constructed a solar power generator for a Tanzania community center’s laptop computer lab through Creekside High School’s STEM Club.

Doug’s current work is focused on the Math 4-Operations Research course that is part of the Race to the Top initiative (RT3) and the math Professional Learning Team (PLT) that will develop online professional development for teachers as part of CEISMC’s RT3 work.
